Railway ground vibration and mitigation measures: benchmarking of best practices

چکیده

Abstract Vibration and noise aspects play a relevant role in the lifetime comfort of urban areas their residents. Among different sources, one coming from rail transit system will central concern following years due to its sustainability. Ground-borne vibration assessment as well techniques mitigate them become key elements environmental impact global enlargement planned for railway industry. This paper aims describe compare mitigation systems existing reported literature through comprehensive state art analysis providing performance each measure. First, an introduction ground-borne generated wheel-rail contact propagation transmission path is presented. Then, ways evaluating assessing these effects are presented, insertion loss indicator introduced. Next, measures at levels (vehicle, track, receiver) discussed by describing possible application efficiency terms loss. Finally, summary with inputs how it address future reported.

Benchmarking Best Practices Performance Results

New product performance was measured in a number of ways in the study – see Exhibit 1. (Use these performance data to benchmark your business’s NPD performance versus the average and top performers.) We also identify a sub-set of Best Performing businesses, and focus on their practices: these are the “benchmark businesses” that one should strive to emulate. In this mini-report and subsequent re...

Influences of Railway Track Geometry Parameters on Ground-Borne Vibration

One of the most important challenges in the development of urban railways network is the effects of railway vibrations on human and adjacent structures. Although various investigations into the sources of railway vibrations have been conducted, very few research works have been reported on the influences of track geometry parameters on the level of vibrations. This is addressed in this resea...

Vibration mitigation of railway bridges using adaptive damping control

In this paper, the advantage of an adaptive damping system is presented. A damper with variable stiffness is tuned based on estimates of the real-time frequency response, facilitating optimal vibration mitigation. The performance of the developed routines is investigated on an existing tied arch railway bridge. Based on previous field measurements, resonant behaviour of several hangers was foun...

Applying Benchmarking to Learn from Best Practices

Assessments are a proven and widely used method to measure one’s software process strengths and weaknesses. This helps determine where to start software process improvement programs. However, an assessment uses information internal to an organisation, but does not compare its processes to a competitor’s. Benchmarking is a way to compare one’s practices with other organisations. These types of c...

The Safety Level of Railway Infrastructure and Its Correlation with the Cost of Preventive and Mitigation Measures

This paper develops a methodology which allows the correlation between the cost which is required for the application of preventive and mitigation measures dealing with accidents which occur within a railway system and the improvement of the level of safety as a result from their implementation. The safety level is expressed either quantitatively, by the decrease of “fatality risk” indicator...
